Short description
For centuries it has been said, that Cluj-Napoca is the cultural centre of Transylvania. The city has two operas (one Romanian and one Hungarian), several theatres (state-founded and independent), museums and universities. There isn’t a single day without some kind of cultural event taking place at one of the many galleries, or cultural associations. If you want to know more about the rich history of this city, that dates back to ancient times, join us on a guided tour. We will tell you about the Middle Ages, when Saxons and Hungarians ruled the city in turns. You will also have the opportunity to visit the birthplace of the Hungarian king Matthias, old churches, and the remains of the wall that protected the settlement. You will get to know the modern Cluj as well, the city as we know it, born in the 19th century, through stories about the first cinemas, the great evening parties, the turn-of-the-century cafés, not to mention the transformations from the communist era till nowadays.
